Asian Tsunami 2004

THE Indian Ocean Earthquake which occurred on Boxing Day, December 26th 2004 led to a Tsunami in the region that claimed over 230,000 lives and displaced over one million people. After the initial disaster the people of Sri Lanka started to rebuild their lives but without fresh drinking water. The rest of the world answered the huminitarian call and sent aid to the country. But a mixture of bureacratic red tape and lacking resources resulted in a trickle of aid reaching the worst hit areas. The aid eventually reached the East Coast and not a moment too soon.
