Assignment: Light Orb – client portrait photo shoot & concept images

This series of images were self directed, shot and edited recently as a prototype campaign for a new client. The 20 minute portrait photo shoot in Hyde Park, London gave me the creative freedom to experiment with a new prop – a cheap paper lampshade, which doubled up as a useful diffused lightsource and ‘portable moon’.

I concealed the 580ex flash with a radio trigger inside the lampshade and proceeded to utilise it’s soft light output for portrait shots. The orb also becomes the centre of attention and adds a mysterious and fantastical theme to the collection.

Keep an eye out for an in depth tutorial of how I achieved the final results in a couple of weeks in the technique section.
